Dear Supporter,
In the
beginning of 2015 Rock Creek Forest Elementary School will be cutting the
ribbon for the grand opening of our new state-of-the-art facility! The students, staff, parents, volunteers, and
PTA of RCFES have been working hard to make sure our new school has everything
it can to make it a world-class school for our students. This includes mobile computer labs,
Promethean Boards in every classroom, cultural arts programs, preserving our
nature trail, and more!
This has
been a huge undertaking, and we need your help to realize some of the
tremendous opportunities our diverse school community could take advantage of
with additional funds. There are several
ways you can help. Our 11th annual
silent auction gala will be held March 14th at Temple Shalom. We'd like to ask you to donate an item or a
gift certificate to the live or silent auction, make a financial contribution
to help underwrite the event, or your business can make an in-kind donation of
food and/or beverages or supplies for the event.
This
construction project presents a wonderful opportunity to revitalize our
community. The green designs build upon our proximity to Rock Creek Park and
the goals set forth by Montgomery County to offer a technology-rich
environment. However, rising
construction costs may limit our ability to fully realize our architects’ and
school community’s vision.
For that
reason, the parents of Rock Creek Forest are using this auction as a
galvanizing point. As you may be aware, Rock Creek Forest Elementary School
hosts children from throughout the county as a result of the highly competitive
Spanish Immersion lottery system. These students from all over Montgomery
County join students from local Chevy Chase and Silver Spring neighborhoods to
make up the incredible range of backgrounds represented at Rock Creek Forest.
We are targeting goals that are both infrastructure, technology, and
academically-based. Your donation, no matter what size, will have an important
impact. Learn what we can do if we raise
the following amount:
- $10,000 will allow the school to purchase 10 digital tablets for a mobile technology lab.
- $2,500 will aid the school in securing LEED Silver status with curriculum-based materials to be used with the green roof, geothermal system installed in the ground and other materials-based lessons.
- $1,000 will help ensure that the school sees its aesthetic identity realized with interior and exterior elements offering a teaching environment underscoring a sense of place and community.
- $500 will enable a class of Rock Creek Forest students to receive highly rated, intensive writing instruction after school at a significantly reduced price.
- $250 will enable three children to attend Rock Creek Forest’s Homework Club annually for free.
- $100 will help supplement one class’s attendance at an in-school cultural arts program.
The
silent auction is also a tremendous community builder for the school and
supporting businesses. Your support will be recognized in the manner
commensurate with the amount contributed, indicated on the donation form.
We
thank you for your help in creating the most successful environment for our
students and event for our community!
